Margot House Hotel
The Barcelona hotel scene certainly isn’t in need of another new addition but when it’s as beautiful as Margot House, who can argue. Located on the busy Paseo de Gracia in the heart of the Eixample neighborhood, the hidden hotel offers just 9 rooms and is the brainchild of father and daughter team, Sergio and Sandra Durany, both with backgrounds in interior design and decoration. Said to be named after Gwyneth Paltrow’s character in “The Royal Tenebaums,” the look references Scandinavian and Japanese minimalism: white walls and linens, beach hut panelling, light wood, cement micro lamps and cashmere blankets make for a bright, unsullied finish, rooms ranging from ‘Cosy’ to larger ‘suites.’
Concentrating on the details, the hotel’s aesthetic extends to its smart branding from studio Séptimo, described as “a homage to old travelogues.”A 24-hour cafeteria, honesty bar, concierge services, a Brompton Bicycles hire scheme, a library and a reception shop, this compact new residence is out to please.
